Now that cigarettes are giving more of their due to state coffers, it’s time we recognize there’s another dangerous substance that’s been given a free ride for far too long, and it should be called upon to stand by tobacco against the wall of sacrifice for the wellbeing of the citizens of this state, and for the health of the state budget.

Are you listening, Jennifer? It’s called “white bread.” Once it was considered the staff of life. And, like tobacco, white bread has been proven to be the opposite of its original value.
